Announcing New Features on pprof.me: Previews and User History

Preview shared profiling data and keep a history of your shared profiles!

November 2, 2023

We are thrilled to announce two exciting new features on pprof.me, our free profile data sharing service that has been aiding developers in analyzing profiling data seamlessly. Today, we are introducing "Previews" and "User History" to enhance your experience and make profile sharing and management even more effortless.

Introducing Previews: Visualize Before You Click

Sharing is caring, and when it comes to profiling, we understand the importance of quick and easy collaboration. With our new "Previews" feature, whenever you share a link to a flamegraph/iciclegraph on platforms like Twitter or Slack, a visual preview of the graph is generated and displayed as the OpenGraph preview image.

This means no more clicking through links to understand what’s on the other side. Your colleagues can now get a glimpse of the performance profile directly within the chat or social media feed, making it easier to decide whether to dive deeper into the analysis. It’s all about making the data accessible and understandable at a glance.

User History: Your Profiles, Organized

You asked for it, and we delivered. Introducing "User History," a feature that allows you to view the history of your uploaded profiles. We understand that performance profiling is an iterative process, and having quick access to past profiles is crucial.

With User History, you can now navigate through your previous uploads, compare different profiles, and track the progress of your performance optimization efforts over time. Everything is organized and available at your fingertips, ensuring that you can focus on what you do best - writing efficient, high-performance code.

How to Get Started

Getting started with these new features is easy. For Previews, simply share a profile link on Twitter or Slack, and the preview image will be automatically generated. For User History, create an account on pprof.me, and any upload you create will from now on be kept in your history.

We believe these features will significantly enhance your profiling experience, making it more collaborative, efficient, and organized. As always, we are committed to providing tools and features that empower developers, and we can’t wait to see how you leverage these new additions to pprof.me.

Happy profiling!
